FireChickTick: Fused Glass and Fork Jewelry

Awwwwwww, aren't they cute? Meet Karen and Kevin, or Kevin and Karen, however you wish to say it. "Who ARE these random people you have pictures of in your blog?" you are asking? Well, they're not random at all, they're wonderful Etsyians...in fact, Kevin and Karen make up the Dynamic Duo of FireChickTick.

Both Karen and Kevin are full time, home based artisans that hail from Dimondale, Michigan. (Although Karen aspires to move the studio to a mansion in Hawaii in the future.) They reside there with their four children. They show their work in several galleries all over the US and in many boutiques in Michigan.

Karen creates beautiful fused glass like these pendants and earrings. (Oh come on faithful readers, you knew I was going to pick the fishbone pendant, it's right up my alley! And candy corn, how can I resist that? It's my favorite candy EVAR!!!) Have no fear, her work also ranges from fabulous and funky to the absolutely, must have it, drop dead gorgeous, like her transparencies pendants.

Karen's grandmother was a stained glass artisan, making custom Tiffany style works by commission. As you can see, the talent for playing with glass runs in the genes! Honestly, there is so much glassy goodness in this shop, that I can't decide what I like best!

Kevin's interest in art has been ongoing since childhood. His grandmother was a gifted oil painter, and invited him into her studio throughout her life. While browsing through antique stores later in life, Kevin fell in love with a gorgeous set of vintage silver. Without really knowing what he wanted to do with it, he brought the set back to his studio, where it sat for months. One day, inspiration hit, and Kevin made his first bracelet. Transforming something that was unloved, dingy and dusty into something lovely.

And oh boy, they sure are lovely! Let me show you a few of my favorites! All of these lovelies are available in FireChickTick's Etsy shop Don't hesitate too much longer though, because I have my eye on the hinged double heart bracelet shown above and to the right.
If you're on a search for a unique gift, what could be better? Whoever would have thought that vintage silverware could be so wearable?
