Theme Thursday ~ Chocolate

Recently, I decided to start something new! Theme Thursday! Starting today I'm going to give a theme (I think you can tell what today's theme is!!), and your task is to create something incorporating that theme, using whatever medium you choose; paint, clay, paper, wax, beads, whatever. When you're done, list that item in your online shop (wherever it may be) and send me a link! Next Wednesday, March 24, I will showcase all of the entries here on my blog. Don't cheat, create something you don't already have in your shop...something you've never made before! Let's get to creating and have some fun! I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!!

The theme is:

CHOCOLATE

a subject near and dear to my heart! It's definitely the perfect time of year for that theme, with Easter right around the corner!

Have a suggestion for Theme Thursday? Let me know!

Hey Puddin' Head!

So in preparation for tomorrow's festivities (read: Oral Surgery) I have spent the twilight hours making pudding. "Be Prepared!" says I! I have Butterscotch, Banana, Coconut Cream, Pistachio and 2 tubs of Chocolate!! I'm hoping I won't need to eat it all, but of course then what will I do with it? (Eat it anyway!) Now y'all know that I'm not going to sleep tonight anyway, so, here's to hoping my creative muse comes for a visit so I can stay up until the pre-dawn hours making things! Come on Creative Muse! Work with me! Hope everyone else's Monday is better than mine is going to be!

So the Monday Missions never really took off, perhaps they need a catchier name? No one wanted to partake, except my dear friend Robin from NothingLikeIt. Last week's mission was bunnies, and she created this fabulous chocolate Easter bunny. Looks like someone already had a sample!

And look who just swung in to say hi! Millicent was made by the insanely talented KreatedbyKelly. Wouldn't she just look fabulous in a nursery?

Cheating

Sometimes, I am a genius! But just sometimes. Those of you that know me, know that I can't cook to save my life. However, I LOVE food. (HA! That's always the way it goes right?) Anyway, one of my favorite holiday treats is Peanut Butter Blossom cookies. Last year I managed to find this kit that had the dry ingredients and kisses, and I had to mix it with the wet ingredients and then bake them. That was a lot of work for me, but they were great! I tasted a few, set them on the counter to cool in the container, and went to run an errand. When I came home, all 6 dozen of the cookies were gone! Bad Dog! And she wasn't sick for a second!

Anyway, this year I couldn't find the kits, and I looked everywhere! So I took it upon myself to experiment! Did you know that the cookies I've shown you up above are total cheats? Yup...Pillsbury peanut butter cookie dough, rolled into balls and sugar and baked. Add Hershey's kisses, and VOILA!

Even *I* can do it! :)

Morganstreet ~ Easing My Stress Levels Just a Bit!

Many of you may be wondering where I've been, and why I haven't put anything new in my shops in ages. Well I'm prepping for this huge show (four days) that starts this Thursday. Needless to say, my stress zit is out in full force (and looking quite lovely I may add) and I look like I haven't seen the sun in weeks. (Honestly I may not have, but I can't remember!)

Imagine my EXTREME delight, when today in the mail, I received the Chocolate Raspberry Soap Slice that I purchased from Morganstreet. I had completely forgotten about ordering it, but when I got the mail, I saw this cute little box, and when I read the return address, I couldn't wait to get inside to tear into it! I could smell the luscious chocolate raspberry through the box. I ran in the house, grabbed a knife and tore it open. There was a sample of another soap on top called "Girl's Night Out" (Boy do I need one of those!!). So I took that out, and lovingly raised out my securely wrapped soap cake slice. It smells DIVINE! I had to force myself not to lick it or take a bite out of it. I am in the process of cooking dinner right now, but I CAN promise you that right afterwards, before I even think about dishes, I am going to lock myself in the bathroom and bathe. (Um....when was the last time I did that? I can't remember...eeeewwww!)

Next time I think I am going to get the Looooooovvvveeee cake!

Meet Fred

Fred's a lover not a fighter. He considers himself quite the romantic. Fred wants you to know that it's not so bad being dead....as long as he has cake! He wants to give a big shout out to Robin from NothingLikeIt for giving me the recipe for this Death By Chocolate cake. MMMMM...He heartily approves! :)

Sin on a Stick..a.k.a. Double Dipped Sweets

I am a HUGE fan of gourmet apples. The huge, gooey, dripping with goodness kind you can get at the mall, or the candy shop. How happy was I was to see that now there is a seller on Etsy that makes these lovelies?! So happy, that I ran directly to my PayPal account and placed an order with Double Dipped Sweets

I ordered two of the "Apple Pie" (shown above) gourmet apples. This has always been my long time favorite, and although I was tempted by the Oreo apple and the Smores apple, not to mention the gourmet popcorn and dipped Oreos, I decided I'd save those for next time and start with something simple, and something I know I'd like.

My order came promptly, well packaged, and intact. The apples were wrapped prettily, and I just could not wait to tear into one. I sent hubby and kids to the movie store to buy myself some alone time, and got down to business. I unwrapped the plastic from the apple and placed it on a plate in front of me. The overall aesthetic of the apple is lovely. Well dipped and coated evenly. I should have taken a picture.......OK, OK I didn't place it on a plate in front of me, I lied. I didn't want you all to think I was a heathen, there was no time for a plate..after glancing at the apple, I raised it directly to my pie hole and took a huge bite. As big a bite as I could fit in there. The flavor was like a foodgasm in my mouth. My teeth sunk right into the apple, the caramel was nice and creamy, rich and soft, not chewy and tough and hard to bite into. The spices, the white chocolate.....the tart green apple......all combined to make my mouth do the happy dance. I made VERY short work of that apple, I didn't even share with the dog. I saved the second apple for the next day. And I ate it while the kids were at school and the hubby was at work. I didn't even share. And you know what? The next time I order, I probably won't share that either! LOL

So RUN, don't walk...to Double Dipped Sweets and get you some appley goodness! I promise you won't be sorry. Next time I think I shall try a different flavor...but then again, I may stick with my old standby apple pie. Why fix it if it's not broken? I will definitely be trying the popcorn and Oreos though!!

Yippee!!

I am so proud of myself today! I finally taught myself how to create lampwork rings with beads that are shapes other then lentils. It has taken me forever, but I'm so happy! It opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for me, and makes preparing for my upcoming craft shows seem exciting! YAY! I made this one last night. Chocolate mint! YUM! It's listed in my Auntie Di's shop.
